Ahead of the March 9, 2019 governorship and state assembly elections, the Enugu State Government has declared Friday, March 8 public holiday.

In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Gabriel Ajah, dated March 7, the state government said that “banks, other financial and health institutions are exempted from this public holiday”.Dr. Ajah further explained that the decision was “to enable the public servants and other residents of the state to travel to their respective registration wards and exercise their civic responsibility of casting their votes during the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly Elections holding on Saturday, March 9, 2019”.
